SNL Star Chloe Fineman Announces Emotional Departure After Seven Seasons

The Saturday Night Live star left the sketch show after seven seasons.

Four days after Chloe Fineman announced she would not return for SNL’s 52nd season, the actress opened up about her “bittersweet” exit from the long‑running sketch series.

While promoting The Dink—in which she co‑stars—on the red carpet, Fineman told The Hollywood Reporter that she is “really proud of everything, but it’s hard.”

She added, “I’m genuinely really good friends with everybody and I genuinely couldn’t love that job more.” Fineman noted that former SNL cast member Colin Jost called her on her birthday, prompting her to “fully cry.” “Everyone’s really reaching out,” she said. “It’s the sweetest show. It’s a hard show because of the hours, but the people make it feel like a family, and I’ve been shedding sweet tears.”

Fineman first joined SNL as a featured cast member for the 2019‑20 season. Outside of SNL she has also lent her voice to series such as Big Mouth and The Simpsons and appeared in films and television. Her film and TV credits include Laid, Megalopolis, Search Party and Freakier Friday, among others.

In an Instagram post confirming her departure, Fineman wrote, “It’s really hard to leave SNL but it does feel like the right time. I’m going to miss it a lot. However, the people who work there are my family and that place is my home, and I know I’ll never be too far away.”

In her latest project, The Dink Fineman stars alongside Jake Johnson and Ben Stiller. The comedy follows a former tennis pro who tries to revive a club by playing pickleball.
