Universal Pictures has announced a wave of additions to the cast of its highly anticipated Snoop Dogg biopic, Snoop, according to Variety. Among the new cast members is SwayvoTwain—born Michael D’Angelo Archer Jr., the son of late neo-soul legends D’Angelo and Angie Stone—who has been cast to play the iconic rapper Biggie Smalls. Additionally, G Perico is set to portray Big Reecie Cup, while Bentley Green, a former standout from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, will play RBX. These additions join an ensemble led by Jonathan Daviss of Outer Banks fame, who will portray Snoop Doggy Dogg.
Directed by Craig Brewer, known for Hustle & Flow, the biopic is slated for release on August 6, 2027. The film’s original script was penned by Black Panther screenwriter Joe Robert Cole, with production led by Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker alongside Snoop Dogg himself. The core ensemble also features Myles Bullock as Dr. Dre, Camron Jones as Tupac Shakur, Algee Smith as Warren G, Tre Hale as Suge Knight, and Laya DeLeon Hayes as Shante Broadus, Snoop Dogg’s wife of nearly three decades.
Universal Pictures previously produced the acclaimed 2015 N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton, in which Lakeith Stanfield portrayed Snoop Dogg. The upcoming film, Snoop, will mark the first cinematic release under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment and Studios.
