Tyler Ulrich, a 21-year-old safety at Southern Nazarene University, passed away Thursday, five days after sustaining a traumatic injury during a game.
The injury occurred in a matchup against Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.
No specific details about Ulrich’s injury have been released. According to KOCO, Southern Nazarene play-by-play announcer Dave Myrick said Ulrich was down on the field after the play, but he could not determine what had happened.
The loss is an unimaginable tragedy for Ulrich’s family and his team. Saturday’s game at Southwestern State University has been canceled.
