Soybean futures recovered from Thursday’s declines to finish Friday with a late-session rally, gaining 4.5 to 9.5 cents. The August contract advanced 12.75 cents on the week, while November rose 12.25 cents. The cmdtyView national average cash bean price increased 10.75 cents to $11.66 3/4. Soymeal futures closed $2.70 to $3.90 lower, with August slipping 20 cents for the week. Soy oil futures climbed 115 to 238 points, as August surged 435 points on the week. Crude oil rebounded $3.50 per barrel by midday, supporting bean oil, with heating oil up $0.0523 to $4.083 per gallon.
The USDA reported three private export sales for the new crop on Friday morning: 340,000 metric tons to China, 256,634 metric tons to Mexico, and 110,000 metric tons to unknown destinations.
Thursday’s export sales data placed old crop soybean sales, including shipments and unshipped commitments, at 41.324 million metric tons. This matches the USDA export forecast, compared with the prior three-year average of 101% of projection. Shipments totaled 38.18 million metric tons, representing 92% of the USDA estimate and trailing the 93% pace of the past two years. New crop business now stands at 4.598 million metric tons.
Friday afternoon’s Commitment of Traders report showed speculators adding 4,009 contracts to their net long position in soybean futures and options for the week ending July 14, bringing the net long to 72,688 contracts.
Safras & Mercado estimates Brazil’s 2026/27 soybean crop at 180.1 million metric tons, a 1.8 million ton increase from last year if realized.
