Soybeans slipped marginally, losing 4 cents across most contracts on Thursday, as developments on the US-China trade front remained subdued. The national average Cash Bean price rose 1/4 cent to $12.59. Soymeal futures dipped 30 cents to $5.80, led by the October contract, while Soy Oil fell 8 points to 32.

Traders closely monitored the ongoing US-China meeting, though no trade-related announcements were issued. Secretary Bessent confirmed this week that the two nations have extended their trade truce by two months.

USDA reported a private export sale of 120,000 metric tons of soybeans to China for the 2026/27 marketing year on Thursday morning.

USDA export sales data for the week of September 17 totaled 582,432 MT, well below analysts’ expectations of 1.5 to 2 million MT. This marks a 12-week low and represents a 19.6% decline compared to the same week last year. China accounted for 311,800 MT of purchases, followed by Japan (66,000 MT) and the Netherlands (59,700 MT).

Bean meal sales reached 60,667 MT for the current marketing year, with 2026/27 sales at 245,984 MT, slightly below the estimated range of 250,000 to 375,000 MT. Bean oil sales stood at 1,631 MT for 2025/26 and 86 MT for 2026/27, compared to projections of net reductions of 2,000 MT and net sales of 6,500 MT, respectively.

Nov 26 Soybeans closed at $13.175, down 1/2 cent.

Nearby Cash was $12.59, up 1/4 cent.

Jan 27 Soybeans closed at $13.32, down 1 3/4 cents.

Mar 27 Soybeans closed at $13.3975, down 2 3/4 cents.
