Starbucks is scheduled to release its quarterly earnings after market close on Thursday, with investors closely watching whether the coffee chain’s revitalization strategy continues to deliver results.
Analysts surveyed by LSEG project earnings of 72 cents per share on revenue of $9.23 billion. The company is also expected to post its fifth consecutive quarter of same-store sales growth, with StreetAccount estimates forecasting a 6% increase driven by North American locations.
The anticipated growth comes as Starbucks streamlines its footprint. In September, the company announced plans to close approximately 250 underperforming North American cafes — roughly 1% of its regional footprint — a move expected to generate about $300 million in restructuring charges. Those closures could artificially inflate same-store sales metrics by removing weaker locations from the base.
The report arrives weeks after Starbucks dismissed speculation about acquiring Chipotle Mexican Grill, the former employer of CEO Brian Niccol. While Chipotle shareholders initially welcomed the rumored deal, analysts warned a merger would divert focus from Starbucks’ ongoing turnaround.
Shares have risen approximately 24% this year, lifting the company’s market capitalization to roughly $119 billion.
