Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, in a lighthearted moment, offered a whimsical response to the ongoing speculation surrounding LeBron James’ next NBA destination.

In a video shared on X, fans approached Kerr in his vehicle and requested he sign James, reigniting rumors of a potential reunion between the four-time champion and the Warriors—a team he has faced multiple times in the NBA Finals during his career. Known for his wit, Kerr responded with a smile, saying, “Oh, we got him,” before adding, “Put that on Twitter,” and driving away.

Warriors staff confirmed the video was authentic, not generated by AI, highlighting Kerr’s habit of using humor to address fan inquiries. While the team remains interested in pursuing James, the coach’s comment was framed as a playful deflection rather than a definitive statement.

On June 30, James, 41, announced his return for a 24th NBA season, ending his eight-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers and officially entering free agency. This move marks the first genuine open market opportunity for the league’s all-time leading scorer since 2010, when he famously declared his move to the Miami Heat.

Rich Paul, James’ agent and Klutch Sports Group CEO, recently outlined the top contenders for his client’s services on a podcast, listing the Warriors, Cavaliers, 76ers, Heat, Timberwolves, Nuggets, and Mavericks. Despite past playoff battles with Golden State, James has maintained public relationships with Curry and Green, including a 2024 Olympic gold medal win under Kerr. In 2022, James expressed interest in teaming up with Curry, further fueling speculation.

Curry, speaking at the American Century Championship golf tournament, emphasized the team’s appeal: “Do you want to play good basketball and be around people who know how to play the game? Raise our floor, competitiveness… We’re an organization that’s been there [winning championships]. He knows that, and that’s self-explanatory. It’s up to him.”

James’ decision remains pending, keeping other free agency moves, such as James Harden’s contract, in flux. Any move involving the NBA legend would significantly impact league dynamics and franchise trajectories, though Kerr’s humorous remark underscores the uncertainty surrounding his choice.
