The two artists exchange verses on their candid, emotionally honest track

Steve Lacy and SZA have released their new collaborative single, “Is It Cool?”

The lyrics reveal Lacy admitting his self‑sabotaging habits, confessing, “I cheat now and then; it was hard to admit because I truly want to commit.” SZA responds, “Being vulnerable is exhausting, babe; can we skip the talk and get intimate instead?”

In August 2025, Lacy told Rolling Stone that his forthcoming album, *Oh Yeah?*, will be released on July 17 through RCA Records. The follow‑up to his 2022 album *Gemini Rights* was written, performed, and produced by Lacy, emphasizing candid, personal storytelling.

“I feel safe enough and close enough to discuss these feelings now and share the title, creating the right energy,” Lacy explained. “I’ve never announced a project while still writing it; rappers usually wait until the very end.”

*Oh Yeah?* will be released four years after Lacy’s Grammy‑winning album *Gemini Rights*. “I dove straight into the studio right after, as I’m always creating; making beats is how I relax,” he told Rolling Stone.

Lacy earlier unveiled “Nice Shoes,” a single he called a “trailer” for the upcoming album, hinting at fresh musical directions.

To promote his third studio album, Lacy will embark on a summer Asian tour, headlining shows at Summer Sonic and Lalala Festival.
