Sugababes Reunite as Original Trio for First Album in 26 Years

The Sugababes are set to reunite in their original lineup—Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhán Donaghy—for a new self-titled album, due February 12, 2027, through Sacred Three/The Orchard. It will be the group’s second album recorded with all three founding members and their first new album in 26 years. Donaghy left after the 2000 debut, One Touch, before Angels With Dirty Faces arrived in 2002. Lead single “Ghost,” accompanied by a music video, is available now; watch it below.

The forthcoming record draws on genres ranging from garage and amapiano to R&B. “We knew from the beginning that we didn’t want to rush this record,” the Sugababes said in a statement. “We’ve poured so much into the songs, the sound and every detail around it, and the more it came together, the clearer it became that there was only one thing we could call it: Sugababes. It feels unmistakably us. We’ve loved writing and recording this record, and we’re so excited that it’s finally time for people to hear it.”

The group has undergone four lineup changes over the years. By the time it released 2009’s Sweet 7, none of the original members remained. As that incarnation went on hiatus, Buena, Buchanan and Donaghy began working to reclaim the Sugababes name.

They first returned to the stage as Mutya Keisha Siobhán, or MKS, in 2012, but did not resume performing as the Sugababes until 2021. “[This comeback] is way more than just a financial thing for us. It is about restoring what was meant to be. And about justice,” Buchanan told the Guardian in 2023. “There’s been a lot of unfairness, a lot of things behind the scenes, and we felt like we had to reclaim back what was rightfully ours.”
