Mainland Chinese respondents favor coercive measures over outright military action to resolve the Taiwan question, while maintaining a broadly negative view of the United States despite supporting engagement on trade and security issues.
“The Chinese public’s attitude toward Taiwan aligns closely with domestic messaging on the island,” said Nick Zeller, lead researcher at The Carter Center, which conducted the biannual China Pulse survey in partnership with Emory University.
