Welcome to another eWrestlingNews Question of the Day!

Tonight on AEW Dynamite, a Survival of the Fittest elimination match will crown the new AEW TBS Champion following Willow Nightingale’s vacancy. The contenders—Maika, Harley Cameron, Hikaru Shida, Persephone, Kris Statlander and Queen Aminata—are all vying for the belt. Tonight’s question: Which wrestler do you think will and/or should emerge victorious?

As far as my answer…

When it comes to the should/will dynamic, the two often intersect for my personal preference, though readers may differ.

I wouldn’t consider Maika or Persephone serious contenders. Neither is currently active on the roster, and it would be a misstep for Tony Khan to award the title to someone outside the active lineup.

Harley Cameron is a comedic talent whose charisma shines best in light‑hearted segments. While a title win isn’t impossible, it wouldn’t likely serve a long‑term narrative purpose.

The stronger candidates in my view are Shida, Statlander and Aminata. Kris Statlander fits the classic “anchor” role—her dominance would reinforce her status as a top heel. Hikaru Shida, on the other hand, offers a strategic option for a champion who is unlikely to be pushed for the world title again, given her recent utilization. Queen Aminata represents a chance to elevate her profile and test her ceiling as a singles champion.

Overall, I anticipate Tony Khan will select Aminata. Though she isn’t my absolute top pick on the roster, among the six participants she stands out as the most compelling choice. Aminata’s first reign would carry significant weight for her AEW career, especially compared to the established championship histories of Shida and Statlander. Even if Marina Shafir were considered an equally viable option, Aminata’s current momentum makes her the logical choice.

I could also envision Tony making a late‑minute creative leap and awarding the belt to Maya World based on her recent performance at Forbidden Door. However, Maya has other championship pathways to pursue, making such a switch less justified when Aminata is already in the match and ready for a breakthrough.

In short: go with Aminata. If the reign falls flat, the title can be reassigned later. If it clicks, it gives AEW a fresh champion with plenty of story potential.
