Police have arrested a man on suspicion of attempted murder after a vehicle struck several pedestrians on a busy London street and then fled the scene.
The incident, which took place around 2:30 pm on Saturday in Ealing Broadway, Ealing, west London, resulted in five injuries, three of which required hospital treatment.
Counter‑terrorism policing London led the initial inquiry, though the incident is not being treated as terrorism.
According to the Metropolitan Police, the suspect is a Britain‑born individual of Somali origin, arrested on charges of dangerous driving and attempted murder.
He was taken into custody at Grange Park shortly thereafter.
None of the injuries was life‑threatening or life‑changing; the two individuals who were not transported to hospital received on‑scene care.
The force said: “Because of the nature of the incident, local officers consulted with counter‑terrorism policing London during the initial investigation.”
“While investigators remain open to any potential motive, the incident is not being treated as terrorism.”
“Road closures are in effect in the area and may remain so for the duration of the investigation.”
