United Hatzalah reported on Friday morning that a man in his thirties sustained minor wounds during a suspected stabbing incident in the Damascus Gate area of Jerusalem’s Old City.
The victim was subsequently transported to Shaare Zedek Medical Center by United Hatzalah paramedics for further medical care.
Israel Police stated that officers stationed in the area opened fire on the assailant after he approached nearby security personnel.
The incident occurred just hours after over 50,000 individuals had gathered at the Western Wall to recite the selichot prayers earlier that evening.
This is a developing story.
