A Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton nicknamed ‘Gus’ sold for a record $50.1 million at a New York auction, making it one of the most valuable dinosaur fossils ever sold. The specimen, dating back roughly 70 million years, is about 80 % complete and fetched a winning bid of $43 million before buyer’s fees brought the final price to $50.1 million.
