Tammy Beaumont has pledged her future to The Blaze for two more seasons after retiring from international cricket earlier this year. The 35-year-old opening batter has signed a two-year deal that runs through the 2028 domestic season, extending a career that started with Kent in 2007 into its third decade. After England Women’s historic inaugural Women’s Test at Lord’s versus India in July, she concluded her international career with 7,327 runs across all formats.
A 2017 World Cup champion, Beaumont has been with the East Midlands outfit since joining Lightning in 2020 at the dawn of the post-Covid regional structure. She remained with the team after it was rebranded as The Blaze in 2023, and the side is set to undergo another rename under Nottinghamshire next season.
She has amassed over 2,600 runs across formats in 78 appearances for the two clubs combined and played a key role in The Blaze’s historic domestic treble this year, contributing more than 900 runs in 35 matches across the County Cup, T20 Blast and One Day Cup. She made 74 in the One Day Cup final and an unbeaten 54 in the Blast decider.“I’m thrilled to be staying for another couple of years as we aim to defend the trophies we captured this season,” Beaumont said. “These four years have been incredible, filled with countless special moments at Trent Bridge – especially this year’s treble.”
“Trent Bridge holds a special place in my heart, and I’ve built countless memories with my teammates, staff and fans over the years. I’m eager to keep playing there and remain part of the family for a while longer.”
Born in Dover, Beaumont spent 12 years with her home county Kent before turning out for Surrey Stars and Southern Vipers in the Kia Super League.
She has played for three franchises in The Hundred, where she recorded the highest individual score in either the men’s or women’s competition – an unbeaten 118 off 61 balls for Welsh Fire in 2023. She has also suited up for three teams in Australia’s WBBL.
Craig Cumming, head coach of The Blaze, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Tammy has committed to another two years. It’s fantastic news for the squad – we get to retain one of the generation’s premier players, who remains a vital part of our lineup.”
“She has demonstrated her capabilities on the global stage for many years, and having stepped away from international duty, we’re thrilled to welcome her as a full-time member of our group.”
