Dar es Salaam — Tanzania and Egypt have reiterated their commitment to deepening their strategic partnership, with a renewed focus on strengthening the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), advancing the African Union’s Agenda 2063, and fostering a continent defined by peace, unity, and prosperity.
Dr Ngwaru Maghembe, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, stated that Tanzania remains firmly dedicated to further strengthening its relationship with Egypt, a partnership that has endured for over six decades.
Dr Maghembe raised these remarks in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday during commemorative events marking the 74th anniversary of the Revolution of the Arab Republic of Egypt, representing the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation at the ceremony.
He emphasized that Tanzania will continue to broaden its cooperation with Egypt across key sectors, including trade, investment, education, energy, transport, industry, health, defense, and water resource management.
The Deputy Minister noted that this year’s celebrations arrived at a crucial juncture, following the official state visit by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Tanzania, which inaugurated a new chapter in their bilateral relations.
“The visit inaugurated a fresh phase of strengthening strategic cooperation and diplomatic ties between the two nations, yielding significant benefits for the people of Tanzania and Egypt,” Dr Maghembe said.
He extended warm congratulations to Egypt on the 74th anniversary of its Revolution, commending the country’s substantial progress in maintaining peace, developing infrastructure, and promoting sustainable development.
For his part, Egyptian High Commissioner to Tanzania Sherif Ahmed Ismail expressed gratitude to the Tanzanian government for championing economic diplomacy and fostering a conducive environment for trade and investment cooperation.
Ambassador Ismail noted that the Tanzania-Egypt Business Forum, held during President El-Sisi’s visit, had strengthened the relations between the private sectors of both nations by creating fresh avenues for investment and trade.
The forum brought together investors, business leaders, private sector representatives, and government officials from Tanzania and Egypt to explore areas of cooperation aimed at promoting mutual prosperity.
President El-Sisi visited Tanzania last week following an invitation from President Samia Suluhu Hassan. During the visit, the two leaders held substantive bilateral talks and jointly launched the Tanzania-Egypt Business Forum.
