Tay Melo may be on her way out of All Elite Wrestling, but the former women’s champion insists her in-ring career is far from finished.

A fan on social media noticed that Melo had recently updated her profile, removing the word “wrestler” from her bio. Responding directly in the comments, Melo clarified that the change does not signal retirement. Her most recent match came in June, when she teamed with Anna Jay in a losing effort against Divine Dominion for the Women’s Tag Team titles.

An Extended Hiatus

Melo’s ring appearances have been limited since her 2025 return to AEW following her pregnancy. That May, she reappeared on television and reintroduced Jay to the AEW audience after Jay had been absent due to ongoing contract discussions.

During a media call ahead of AEW Redemption in July, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed he would grant Melo her release, noting that she had expressed a desire to step away from active competition. Bryan Alvarez later reported that Melo had actually requested her release the previous year.

Melo began her professional wrestling journey in 2016 with WWE’s NXT brand. Following her release in 2020, she made the jump to the upstart promotion and quickly established herself as a prominent figure in the women’s division.
