Taylor Swift reflected on her country roots during a recent interview.

During a career‑spanning discussion with Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. for the Icon Sessions series, Swift revisited the origins of her career in Nashville.

Swift said she increasingly embraces her country roots as she progresses in her career and wishes to honor them even more, noting that the people who shaped her as an artist and songwriter were formed in Nashville.

She cited early influences such as Faith Hill, recalling that Hill was discovered at the Bluebird Café and describing her personal goal to perform there.

Reflecting on her self‑titled debut and the single ‘Tim McGraw’, Swift said the track contains subtle hints of the events that would unfold over the following two decades.

Marking the 20th anniversary of her debut, Swift recently returned to country music with ‘I Knew It, I Knew You’, recorded for the soundtrack of the new Toy Story film.

Fans speculate new music is forthcoming after Swift was seen leaving Electric Lady Studios in New York after a nine‑hour overnight session, during which she was accompanied by Haim members Alana and Danielle.

Swift’s most recent album, 2025’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’, drew on her experiences from the record‑breaking Eras Tour and became the UK’s top‑selling album of the year, marking the first time an artist has topped the yearly sales chart with different albums since ABBA in 1977.
