A nationwide outage affecting Telstra’s mobile network has left thousands of customers unable to make calls or access internet services on Wednesday.
The company confirmed the disruption, stating it was actively investigating the issue affecting calls and data connectivity across its 25 million subscriber base.
“We’re addressing the problem and will provide updates once resolved. Your patience is appreciated,” Telstra wrote on social media.
Customers were advised to restart their devices as a potential temporary workaround during the outage.
Over 7,500 users reported the issue via Downdetector, with outages beginning around 4 a.m.
The disruption extended to Victoria’s regional train services, which were suspended due to radio network problems linked to Telstra’s outage, according to V/Line.
Western Australia police warned that emergency calls to triple zero could be impacted and urged support for vulnerable individuals.
The incident follows recent outages at Vodafone and Optus, including a prolonged disruption in June 2025 that caused intermittent service and a fatal incident tied to an Optus outage in September 2025.
New ACMA regulations now require telecom providers to publicly disclose outage timelines, causes, and resolution details, effective March 2025.
