Teo Fimo Lopez, who faced Shakur Stevenson in a dominant super-lightweight bout, has weighed in on a potential matchup between Stevenson and Gervonta Davis following the latter’s extended absence from the sport.
Lopez previously cemented his legacy as a two-division world champion by dethroning boxing icons Vasyl Lomachenko and Josh Taylor in the lightweight and light-welterweight divisions, respectively.
While many regard Lomachenko as his most formidable opponent due to the Ukrainian champion’s extensive international accolades, Lopez personally identifies Stevenson as the superior adversary.
After securing a unanimous decision victory over Stevenson, the latter elevated himself to four-division world champion status and finalized a promotional partnership with Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing.
Although Stevenson’s next opponent, date, and location remain unconfirmed, industry whispers suggest a potential unification showdown with Gary Antuanne Russell later this year.
From a fan perspective, however, a collision with Davis—last competing in a highly controversial draw against Lamont Roach in March 2025—remains the most anticipated prospect for Stevenson’s progression.
As an amateur, Lopez shared intense training sessions with Davis, and during a recent live stream, he expressed confidence in the veteran’s ability to prevail. “Tank wins. It would be a good one, though. [Stevenson is] the best fighter I’ve ever fought,” Lopez stated.
At 31, Davis is also reportedly being linked to a highly anticipated return against George Kambososos Jr., who hasn’t competed since suffering an eighth-round stoppage loss to Richardson Hitchins in June 2025.
