Monday night saw Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin carried off the field while wearing a protective cast on his left knee, casting a shadow over hopes for a swift return to action this season.
Head coach Dan Quinn indicated the team anticipates a significant injury and scheduled Tuesday medical evaluations to assess the severity of the knee condition. Medical tests remain pending; however, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport, the team is preparing to learn that McLaurin will miss the remainder of the season.
The receivers’ star player missed Week 4 with a hamstring injury and has logged 15 receptions for 230 yards and a touchdown this season.
With two seasons remaining on his contract, McLaurin is projected to have a $34 million cap number by 2027, though there is no guaranteed money left on his deal should the Commanders pursue a different direction.
