India A chose to field first and waited until the start of the 16th over for their first wicket. Thakur dismissed opener Sohan de Livera for 28, and after Pawantha Weerasinghe reached 39, spinner Brar took his wicket, caught by captain and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.
Nuwanindu Fernando (44), Ashen Bandara (34), Anjala Bandara (42) and captain Arachchige (83 not out) steadied the innings, guiding Sri Lanka A close to 300 at stumps; Arachchige remained unbeaten, hitting nine boundaries and a six.
Saransh ended Anjala’s innings by dismissing him for 42 before the close of play.
