The Devil Wears Prada 2, starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, is set to debut on Hulu via Disney+ this week, shortly after concluding its successful theatrical run.
Written and directed by David Frankel, who also helmed the 2006 original film, The Devil Wears Prada 2 premiered in theaters on May 1 and later transitioned to digital rental on June 30. The sequel follows Andy Sachs (Hathaway), a seasoned journalist who, along with her colleagues, faces mass layoffs amid the ongoing disruption in the print media industry.
In a surprising turn, Andy receives an unexpected offer to rejoin Miranda Priestley’s (Streep) Runway magazine, which is struggling to stay afloat. A potential lifeline emerges when Miranda’s former assistant and current rival, Emily (Blunt), now a high-ranking executive at Dior, steps in with a bold plan to revitalize the publication.
The film, rated PG-13, wrapped its domestic theatrical run on July 23, grossing $220.5 million. Combined with international earnings of approximately $469.8 million, The Devil Wears Prada 2 has amassed a total of $690.3 million worldwide against a production budget of $100 million, excluding marketing costs.
‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Debuts on Hulu via Disney+ Wednesday
The film will be available to stream on Hulu via Disney+ starting Wednesday, July 29.
Subscribers without access to the service can opt for the Hulu on Disney+ bundle, which offers an ad-supported tier at $12.99 per month or an ad-free experience for $19.99 per month.
Joining the core cast are Lucy Liu, Kenneth Branagh, B.J. Novak, Tibor Feldman, Tracie Thoms, Helen J. Shen, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, and Simone Ashley. The film also features cameos from notable figures such as Jon Batiste, Ciara, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Lady Gaga.
