The Edge joined Martin Garrix on stage at Tomorrowland last night to premiere their new collaboration, ‘Fireflies.’

The Dutch DJ and producer headlined the opening day of the Belgian festival on July 17, performing a massive set on the main stage at De Schorre recreational park in Boom.

To conclude his set, Garrix invited The Edge to the stage, where the U2 guitarist performed live as the group unveiled their previously unheard collaboration.

The track features vocals from Bono and centers around a repetitive chorus: “Fireflies, you and I are fireflies.”

Following the performance, Garrix confirmed the partnership via Instagram, sharing a clip with the caption: “‘Fireflies’ with @u2 soon… premiered at @tomorrowland.”

‘Fireflies,’ credited to Martin Garrix and U2, is scheduled for release next Friday, July 24. It remains unconfirmed whether the track will appear on upcoming albums from either artist.

This collaboration marks another high-profile partnership between Garrix and the legendary rock band, following their 2021 work on ‘We Are The People,’ the official song for UEFA Euro 2020.

Garrix has a history of working with U2, having produced ‘Your Song Saved My Life’ for the Sing 2 soundtrack and contributing to the writing of ‘Scars’ on U2’s ‘Easter Lily’ EP earlier this year.

U2 also recently previewed ‘Street Of Dreams,’ the first taste of their upcoming 15th studio album. Produced by Jacknife Lee, the track highlights The Edge’s signature guitar work and features Spanish lyrics from Bono. The music video was filmed on a bus in Mexico City, continuing after heavy rain forced the band onto a local resident’s balcony.

The footage also includes drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who was absent from the band’s Las Vegas Sphere residency in 2023 and 2024 while recovering from surgery.

U2 has been active this year, releasing two EPs: the political project ‘Days Of Ash’ in February and the reflective ‘Easter Lily’ on Good Friday.

Regarding their upcoming full-length studio album, Bono noted during the release of ‘Easter Lily’ that the band is working on a “noisy, messy” record intended for live performance, emphasizing that rock and roll remains their primary mode of expression.

The new, untitled LP will be U2’s first collection of original material since 2017’s ‘Songs Of Experience.’ This follows their 2023 release, ‘Songs Of Surrender,’ which featured re-recorded versions of older tracks.
