As The Legend of Zelda marks its 40th anniversary, the franchise’s history stretches back to 1986, when players first experienced the original adventure on the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Four decades later, the series remains highly popular, with 33 releases in total. The catalogue includes 21 original core titles alongside 11 remakes, ports, and special collections.
Interest in the franchise continues to grow ahead of the Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, scheduled for November 5, 2026. Another addition to the series is expected to sustain that momentum.
Game Press has published The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Hyrule, a hardback companion volume that revisits the story of Ocarina of Time before the remake’s release.
Available in Deluxe and Hero of Time editions, the book was written by Anna-V. “Kurusonna.” It presents the game’s events from the perspectives of several familiar characters. According to the publisher’s synopsis, the story of the Hero of Time involves far more than Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganondorf, as the choices of other figures helped shape Hyrule’s fate.
The volume arranges key events from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time chronologically, beginning before the game’s opening and extending beyond the kingdom of Hyrule. Its protagonists are characters whose experiences have not previously been told but who accompanied and assisted the Hero of Time, adding further depth to the world through their own stories.
Through their memories, ambitions, and decisions, the book explores how these supporting figures contributed to the hero’s success.
The Deluxe edition includes the book, a foil GP Card from Ocarina of Time, and two exclusive bookmarks. The more extensive Hero of Time edition offers the same collectibles along with:
