Hundreds of Israelis gathered at demonstrations spanning northern and central Israel on Saturday, voicing opposition to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government and its proposed judicial reforms, Israeli media reported.
Protests unfolded in Haifa, Nahariya, and Western Galilee, with demonstrators also congregating on key bridges in coastal regions near Maagan Michael and Neurim, according to Channel 12.
Demonstrators channeled their dissent through chants and placards targeting Netanyahu, accusing his administration of failing to prevent the October 7 Hamas attack and opposing the controversial legal changes.
The government has advanced a series of judicial restructuring measures since early 2023, asserting they would rebalance authority between branches of government and mitigate perceived judicial overreach. However, opposition leaders contend the reforms would erode judicial independence and restrict oversight of executive and legislative actions.
In March 2025, the Knesset approved an amendment altering the composition of the judicial selection committee and the criteria for judicial appointments—a change set to take effect upon the next session of the 25th Knesset.
