On Saturday, Tim Ream was officially designated as the captain for the United States Men’s National Team at the upcoming World Cup.

“This is more than a dream come true,” Ream remarked during a press conference held alongside head coach Mauricio Pochettino. “It is the highest honor I could receive.”

The veteran 38-year-old defender previously represented the U.S. during the 2022 World Cup, a squad led by captain Tyler Adams.

Should he take the field, Ream is poised to become the oldest American player to ever compete in a World Cup tournament.
