D’Ernest Johnson’s fourth-quarter touchdown run sealed the Tennessee Titans’ comeback, securing a 19-16 victory over the Seattle Seahawks in their second preseason meeting Sunday night at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
Johnson, a veteran running back who spent the previous season with the New England Patriots, scored the Titans’ only touchdown on a 2-yard rush with 5:45 remaining, giving Tennessee (2-0) its first lead. The score capped a 16-0 run over the final 45 minutes after Seattle (0-2) had taken a 16-3 advantage after the opening quarter.
Kicker Joey Slye converted all four of his field-goal attempts, including a 55-yard kick, accounting for every Tennessee point before Johnson’s touchdown. The Titans started second-year quarterback Cam Ward, who completed 8 of 12 passes for 69 yards—the team’s highest—over three series. Running back Tony Pollard logged just two carries for 12 yards and added one reception for 33 yards, the team’s top receiving gain.
Seattle left starter Sam Darnold on the bench, turning to reserves Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe. Lock played the first half, orchestrating three scoring drives in the opening quarter. He opened the game’s scoring with a 36-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Arroyo, who finished with a game-high 50 receiving yards, just 3:48 into the contest.
Rookie running back Jacardia Wright extended Seattle’s lead to 13-3 with 5:43 left in the first quarter, breaking off a 69-yard touchdown run that highlighted his eight-carry, 81-yard rushing effort.
Lock finished 12-of-14 for 103 yards and a touchdown. After halftime, Milroe struggled, completing 6 of 11 passes for 52 yards and throwing two interceptions—one by Anthony Hill Jr. and the other by Derrick Canteen, the latter of which ended Seattle’s final possession.
