Tom Cruise appeared on The Tonight Show to promote his upcoming film Digger**, but shortly after host Jimmy Fallon’s incisive questioning revealed that Cruise had joined Taylor Swift at the Chiefs’ opening game on Monday.
“When the biggest movie star in the world is sitting next to the biggest artist in the world, what do you talk about?” Fallon asked.
She really brought the football onto the table, Cruise replied. “For sure—she’s a genius. I’ve followed her since childhood. Everyone there, especially her friends, is a wonderful couple and absolutely magic in their own way.”
He noted that he hadn’t been to a football game since pre‑COVID, when he was working full‑time, making it difficult to attend. Yet he pressed that she clearly understood the sport.
Both men admitted that Swift, aware of this dynamic, knew little about football when she first met her husband Travis Kelce, the Chiefs quarterback. She quipped, “He’s so patient.” I answered, “He probably is—I think everyone would be very patient with her.”
At halftime, the duo continued chatting about music and cinema. Cruise praised Swift’s keen sense of humor, described her as a brilliant writer, and highlighted her talents as a musician and director, calling her highly skilled.
During his appearance on the show, Cruise also joined Fallon in the “Claw Machine Challenge,” hanging from wires to snag prizes from a giant pit. The awards were themed to his films, including Top Gun and Mission: Impossible.
