TOMORA discussed their role in providing music for the World Cup TV coverage in an interview with NME, as England and Norway face off in a high-stakes match on July 11. The duo, comprising Norwegian artist Aurora and The Chemical Brothers’ Tom Rowland, features two tracks from their critically acclaimed 2026 debut album Come Closer, with BBC’s coverage incorporating the infectious single “Somewhere Else” as a recurring theme.
“The concept of ‘somewhere else’ resonated deeply with us,” the pair shared with NME. “We envisioned it etched on a mysterious door that leads to a beautiful place. Inside, we hear birdsong, which we incorporated into the track.” Their second track, “In A Minute,” has also been featured prominently in ITV’s World Cup promotional content.
“This song thrives on vocal eagerness and persistence,” they explained. “The voices never cease singing, a reminder of their significance. When they fade, you reach your destination—in a minute, you’ll see the sun, a vital truth.”
The track selection reflects their shared passion for football as a unifying force. “Football and music both celebrate connection,” they noted. “We’re moved by the emotion and expression we witness—it fills us with joy. We also extend heartfelt support to the Ivory Coast team, who deserve the opportunity to watch their dreams unfold.”
The upcoming Norway-England clash will test the duo’s loyalty. Aurora predicts, “Norway has won hearts, and I believe they’ll excel—they’re an underdog that should be respected.” Rowlands counters, “England’s path to the final looks extremely promising.” When asked about their personal football anthems, Aurora surprisingly cited Norway’s viral classic “RO! RO! RO!”
