Tony Khan expressed optimism about AEW’s prospects under Skydance.
During AEW Grand Slam France, taped at the Adidas Arena in Paris and rescheduled to Tuesday, October 6, AEW President Tony Khan spoke with representatives of the newly formed Skydance media company about the promotion’s future.
Tony Khan Outlines Optimism for AEW’s Skydance Future
Khan noted that Tuesday marked his first day working with Skydance following the completion of the major media merger.
“It’s great being here in Paris today, my first day working for Skydance, and it’s great. I love working for Skydance, and we are going to have a great future here,” Khan said.
Khan also emphasized the ongoing relationship between Skydance and AEW’s existing media partners at Warner Bros. He then turned his focus to promoting the Grand Slam France event.
“It’s our first day, hand in hand with our Paramount brothers and sisters here at Warner Bros. It’s going to be a great, great future for AEW. And it begins on Tuesday Night Dynamite, Grand Slam tonight,” Khan added.
His remarks were made at a pivotal moment for AEW, as Warner Bros. Discovery—the promotion’s current media partner—merged with Paramount Skydance on October 6, forming the new Skydance entity.
Nevertheless, there are no immediate indications that AEW’s current television contract will be altered. The existing media rights agreement is valid through early 2028, with a possible extension option into 2029. As a result, the short‑term effects of the merger on AEW’s weekly programming and operations are still uncertain.
At present, Khan seems to be concentrating on the new opportunities rather than the uncertainties introduced by the corporate restructuring.
