Tottenham Hotspur are set to go head-to-head with Eintracht Frankfurt in the race to sign Saint-Etienne forward Djylian N’Guessan.
The 17-year-old has drawn widespread admiration across the continent, with several elite clubs tracking his development, according to FussballDaten. Blessed with the attributes to become a top-tier talent, he represents a compelling proposition for Tottenham.
He remains contracted to the French side until 2027, yet Saint-Etienne could face mounting pressure to cash in during the current window. Allowing his deal to draw closer to expiration would significantly diminish the club’s negotiating power, making a sale this summer a pragmatic course of action before a suitable replacement is sourced.
Tottenham, for their part, are eager to bolster their attacking ranks and view the teenager as a valuable long-term investment. A dynamic presence in the final third with a keen eye for goal, N’Guessan also possesses the physical profile to thrive as a focal point in Spurs’ frontline. Where he plies his trade next season, however, remains far from certain.
Capped at France under-20 level, N’Guessan clearly has the ceiling to compete at the highest level, and Tottenham could nurture him into a key first-team figure. A switch to Eintracht Frankfurt would likewise represent an appealing developmental pathway. Ultimately, the deciding factor may hinge on playing time; whichever destination guarantees regular minutes should take precedence, as stagnating on the bench would only stunt his considerable potential.
After a below-par campaign, Spurs are determined to rebound strongly next term and recognize the pressing need for reinforcements during the summer market. Strengthening the forward line ranks high on their agenda. Although the 17-year-old may not deliver an instant impact, he has all the makings of a prized long-term asset for the North London outfit.
