Tottenham have officially rejected a move involving free‑agent Maurcio Icardi, contradicting early speculation that the Argentine striker might offer a short‑term solution to their relentless attack shortfall.
The club entered a difficult run at the top of the table under Roberto De Zerbi, scoring scarcely enough in the opening weeks.
A major factor is registration. Tottenham have already submitted their 25‑man Premier League squad, meaning Icardi could not be registered for league matches until January even if he signs now.
Earlier reports floated a deal with the Italian forward after his side went unbeaten in the first four games. Though still a free agent after departing Galatasaray, Icardi tallied 16 goals across all competitions last year.
However, his most likely next destination is now believed to be Serie A, where clubs such as Lazio are actively interested.
