Tottenham have agreed a surprise loan deal to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Chelsea, featuring an eye‑catching £75 million option to make the transfer permanent.
The 25‑year‑old winger had drawn interest from several clubs after returning to action this summer, but Spurs acted swiftly to bring him across London.
The move also reunites Mudryk with Roberto De Zerbi, who coached him earlier at Shakhtar Donetsk and has long admired his potential.
According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham’s agreement with Chelsea includes a non‑mandatory purchase option worth £75 million.
The clause allows Spurs to evaluate Mudryk throughout the 2026‑27 season before deciding whether a permanent move makes sense, without any obligation to meet that figure next summer.
The full loan agreement has also been reported by talkSPORT, which says Chelsea and Tottenham have agreed terms for Mudryk to spend the season in North London. The £75 million option is not compulsory, while Mudryk remains contracted to Chelsea until 2031.
Tottenham pursued the winger after their other attacking plans shifted late in the transfer window.
The Guardian notes that Spurs turned to Mudryk after Manchester City moved ahead of them for Iliman Ndiaye.
The most important detail is that Tottenham are not required to activate the £75 million option, which dramatically reduces the risk.
Mudryk’s Chelsea career has yet to match the huge expectations that followed his arrival, but the raw qualities that made him an expensive signing remain evident. He possesses explosive pace, carries the ball aggressively and can create problems when given space.
De Zerbi’s involvement could be crucial. The Tottenham manager knows Mudryk well and may believe he can finally unlock the consistency that Chelsea never managed to find.
Although the £75 million option still looks steep given Mudryk’s recent output, Spurs do not need to worry about that at this stage.
Their immediate aim is simply to give him regular playing time and see how he develops.
