Mary Kate Golding, a respected set designer known for her work on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, was found dead on Tuesday, July 21, in what authorities suspect is a murder-suicide. Golding was 34 years old.

Emergency services were dispatched to her Queens, New York, apartment just after midnight. An NYPD spokesperson issued a statement regarding the initial discovery: “On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 0024 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an assault inside of 18-64 41 Street, within the confines of the 114 Precinct. Later that morning, around 6:39 a.m., police responded to a separate 911 call involving an unresponsive man in a nearby park. According to reports from Variety, the man has been identified as Joseph Azzaretto, Golding’s husband. Police sources indicate that the deaths are being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide. Reports suggest Azzaretto was found deceased by hanging. Crucially, the couple’s infant son was located inside their apartment and was found unharmed.

An NYPD statement regarding the second incident read: “On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at approximately 0639 hours, police responded to a 911 call of an unconscious person in the vicinity of Astoria Park South and Shore Boulevard, within the confines of the 114th Precinct.
