The Rams’ trade for Myles Garrett on Monday elevated the reigning Defensive Player of the Year as the NFC West’s primary concern.
As the other NFC West teams reacted, the 49ers, Cardinals, and Seahawks were already reviewing film on the Rams’ new edge rusher.
49ers left tackle Trent Williams addressed Garrett’s move to the Rams, succinctly summarizing the division’s shared sentiment.
“It sucks,” Williams stated, prompting laughter as captured in team video.
Garrett recorded one sack and three quarterback hits against the 49ers in last season’s Browns loss. He tallied one quarterback hit during Cleveland’s 2023 victory over San Francisco.
The 30-year-old Garrett established the NFL single-season sacks record last year with 23 and has accumulated 125.5 career sacks.
