Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss, potentially one of the most polarizing prospects in the 2027 NFL draft, has launched his final college football season on a high note.
In the season opener, Chambliss completed 21 of 36 passes for 336 yards, throwing three touchdowns and one interception. He also contributed on the ground, rushing nine times for 60 yards and a touchdown, leading the ninth-ranked Ole Miss Rebels to a thrilling 41-38 victory over the 24th-ranked Louisville Cardinals.
Just a year ago, Chambliss was an obscure transfer from Division II Ferris State, not even projected to secure a starting role at Ole Miss. However, he quickly transcended that expectation, evolving into one of the nation’s premier players and leading the Rebels to the College Football Playoff.
Despite his success, Chambliss remains a highly polarizing figure in draft circles. Listed at 6-foot-1—though possibly shorter—and having already reached the age of 24 in his sixth year of college football, some scouts question his upside and potential for growth compared to younger, less experienced quarterback prospects.
The debate surrounding his draft stock ranges from a potential first-round selection to a Day Three pick. While the outcome remains uncertain, Chambliss can significantly bolster his draft prospects by maintaining this level of high-performance play throughout the season.
