Sixteen-year-old triplets Emilie, Hollie, and Millie Jeffreys etched their names into the record books this weekend, becoming the first set of triplets to represent Guernsey as the island side secured a third-place finish in the Cherry Godfrey Cup.
Guernsey’s campaign began with a 3-1 semi-final defeat to the Isle of Man on Friday, but the team rebounded emphatically 24 hours later, dismantling the Isle of Wight 5-1 in the third-place play-off. The Jeffreys sisters were central to the turnaround, combining for a hand in every goal scored by their side.
Millie Jeffreys provided the creative spark early on, assisting all three of Heidi Dawber’s first-half strikes as the striker completed a hat-trick to establish a commanding 3-0 lead inside 32 minutes. The Isle of Wight pulled a goal back through a long-range effort from Thea Broadhead just before the interval.
The second half saw the siblings link up again, with Emilie threading a pass to Millie to restore the three-goal cushion with 18 minutes remaining. Emilie then capped a memorable afternoon in stoppage time, firing home a fifth goal to seal the victory.
“Since I can’t even remember, I’ve looked forward to this opportunity and it’s finally come,” Emilie Jeffreys told BBC Radio Guernsey. “It was a special moment for us; we’ve always wanted this opportunity and for all three of us to be on the pitch at the same time is special.”
