WASHINGTON, Sept. 2 (Reuters) — President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that the renewed U.S. military campaign against Iran would not extend “too long,” following the most significant exchange of fire between Tehran and Washington since July.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump asserted that Iran had been attempting to construct a mine-dropping rocket, which the U.S. subsequently destroyed. He also noted that Iran had been working to restore its radar and missile systems, both of which were targeted during the American strikes.
“We eliminated all the new equipment they attempted to build along the Strait of Hormuz—some defensive, some offensive… It was a very heavy attack last night, and we are prepared to strike again anytime we choose,” he stated.
