United States President Donald Trump declared it “ridiculous” for the United States to maintain its current support for NATO during remarks ahead of the alliance’s upcoming summit in Ankara.
On his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “They were not there for us!!!” criticizing the transatlantic partnership as “not reciprocal.”
The president has frequently criticized European NATO allies for their insufficient support during the ongoing conflict in Iran.
