President Donald Trump’s envoys are scheduled to meet with Ukrainian and European officials in Miami on Friday to discuss fresh ideas and work toward a unified proposal to end the war with Russia, according to two U.S. sources.

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine confirmed the meetings after a day in which a Russian airstrike on buses in the frontline city of Kramatorsk killed 30 people, marking one of the deadliest attacks in recent weeks.

Zelensky said the Ukrainian negotiating team will meet with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in the United States tomorrow, with the talks expected to run for two days, and noted that a European delegation is also expected to join.

According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian delegation will include his chief of staff Kyrylo Budanov, along with senior officials Rustem Umerov, Sergiy Kyslytsya and David Arakhamia, who will attend the talks in Florida.

U.S. sources familiar with the discussions said the parties will examine new ideas and proposals that American negotiators have been developing with both Russian and Ukrainian counterparts during their recent regional visit.

The American negotiators have also invited national security advisors from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, as well as representatives from NATO and the European Union.

U.S. officials indicated that the envoys will address security guarantees for Ukraine, a post‑war economic recovery plan, and other aspects of the conflict.

One source added that officials are concerned about the upcoming winter, warning that it will be challenging if the war continues.

The United States aims to mediate between the parties to craft a single, comprehensive proposal.

Zelensky previously said the United States intends to restart peace efforts by arranging a new round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, to be held by the end of October.

The Kremlin announced last month that trilateral talks aimed at ending the war could be scheduled for October.

Earlier peace talks have not produced concrete results, as Moscow remains unwilling to abandon its maximalist conditions for ceasefire.

Trump said earlier this week that he has a scheduled call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, though the discussion is expected to focus on the reported death of a researcher at a Russian plague laboratory.

Photos showed Witkoff traveling with Trump aboard Air Force One on Wednesday, as the former president headed to Texas for a campaign event related to the U.S. midterm elections.
