PARIS, June 17 — U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that it would be unfair to deny Iran ballistic missiles if other countries in the region possess them.
Speaking to reporters in Paris, Trump said that if countries such as Saudi Arabia and Qatar have such weapons, Iran should be allowed to maintain them “in relative proportion.”
Trump also said the United States would keep its military forces in the Gulf “for a while” after Washington reached an agreement with Tehran to end nearly four months of regional conflict.
