President Donald Trump has warned that the United States would strike Iranian bridges or power plants if Iranian forces attack any vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
Potential targets, he said on Truth Social, would be located near or within Tehran.
The United States would respond militarily to any EV ANY form of attack on shipping in the vital waterway, whether by missile, rocket, drone, or any other weapon.
The threat follows a series of U.S. strikes on Iran for the 11th consecutive night, at which point Tehran warned that it would not allow the United States to target its nuclear facilities.
Iranian state media reported that air defenses were activated in Tehran, and explosions were also reported in Tabriz, the southeastern ports of Chabahar and Konarak, and in Bushehr, which hosts Iran’s sole nuclear power plant.
Iran, which has conducted retaliatory strikes against the United States and its Middle Eastern allies, warned of potential reprisals after Trump announced that the U.S. would soon target an underground nuclear facility near Natanz.
Kuwait’s armed forces reported on Wednesday that its air defenses had engaged Iranian drone attacks, and Bahrain and Jordan also intercepted both drone and missile strikes.
Oil prices rose in response to the latest escalation, climbing to $94 per barrel on Wednesday.
Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned the United States on Wednesday evening that “the stakes of this conflict are clear: all or nothing.”
“In a region where we do not sell oil, no one will sell oil. If our security is not guaranteed, no infrastructure will be safe, and the security of the Strait hinges on American presence. We have repeatedly stated that the situation of the Strait will not revert to pre‑war conditions,” Ghalibaf posted on X.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier indicated that Washington remains open to diplomatic engagement with Tehran, although he added that he doubts Iran’s sincerity in pursuing talks.
