Tunisia Secures Approximately 100,000 Metric Tons Durum Wheat via International Tender

HAMBURG/PARIS: Tunisia’s state grains agency is expected to have secured approximately 100,000 metric tons of durum wheat through an international tender on Friday, according to European traders.

The procurement was executed across four consignments totaling 25,000 metric tons each.

Two shipments were acquired from the trading house Casillo at an estimated $376.69 per tonne and $383.92 per tonne respectively, with costs and freight (c&f) included. Additionally, two other consignments came from Amber at $358.29 and $366.29 per tonne respectively.

These reports reflect trade assessments, though final price and volume figures remain subject to revision as additional market information becomes available.

Procurement windows were defined as follows: shipments sourced from the Black Sea region, eastern Europe, or the Mediterranean could be scheduled between November 5 and December 25; those from West Europe fell within November 1 to December 20; and supplies from the United States, Canada, or South America were targeted for delivery between October 25 and December 15.

Trimmers noted that the agency reiterated prior concerns regarding potential non‑preferred origin sources for these grain purchases.

For suppliers of Black Sea grain, contractual provisions prohibit the invocation of force majeure clauses under any circumstances given ongoing disruptions tied to the conflict in Ukraine, requiring alternative sourcing when Black Sea supplies are unavailable.
