Search and Rescue Operations Initiated Following Vessel Collision, Ten Crew Members Missing

Turkish coastguard has initiated a coordinated search‑and‑rescue effort after two Turkish‑flagged commercial ships collided in the Marmara Sea, leaving ten crew members presumed missing.

The collision occurred around 03:00 UTC (00:00 GMT) about twenty miles (32 km) south of Silivri, near Istanbul. The Istanbul governor’s office confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday.

“Numerous naval units from the Marmara and Bosphorus Coastsguard Commands, together with a helicoper, were dispatched to the scene,” the office reported.
