Turkiye on Friday strongly rejected statements from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, describing them as lacking factual basis and political credibility, according to Anadolu Agency.

“The offensive remarks by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, which are devoid of historical facts and political seriousness, represent another attempt by an administration desperate to avoid accountability for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity,” Turkiye’s Communications Directorate stated on its official social media platform.

The directorate condemned what it characterized as “low-level political tactics” orchestrated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his associates, suggesting such actions were motivated by electoral ambitions and held no legitimacy in Israeli society, the broader region, the international community, or Turkiye itself.

It further asserted that the Israeli administration’s engagement in genocide accusations at international justice forums underscores how Turkiye’s stance and President Erdogan’s unwavering commitment to factual discourse have provoked “adverse reactions” among certain actors.

The directorate criticized the Israeli election campaign for increasingly relying on “irresponsible security populism” and aggressive threat-based strategies, noting that efforts to portray Turkiye as a new regional threat are part of these domestic political maneuvers.

“Escalating tensions for political gain poses serious risks to Israeli society, regional stability, and global peace,” the statement concluded. “Turkiye, as it has historically done, will continue to stand with the oppressed, oppose oppression, and uphold justice, stability, and peace in our region, regardless of the cost.”

The Turkish government previously announced its request for Interpol red notices against Netanyahu and another Israeli defendant in connection with the 2019 Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla incident, in which Israeli forces boarded the vessel.

Earlier, Netanyahu claimed Israel had issued a “clear warning” to Ankara and Damascus regarding Turkish military operations in Syria.
