KARACHI: A man and his son were killed when a recklessly driven trailer struck their motorcycle in Baldia Town on Monday.
Traffic police reported the accident occurred near the Edhi graveyard on the road leading towards Musharraf Colony.
The official stated the heavy vehicle, operated by an unknown driver, hit a motorcycle bearing registration number KJY-3668 that was carrying two riders who were not wearing helmets.
The collision caused both riders to fall and sustain critical injuries. They were rushed to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, where they succumbed to their wounds.
The victims were identified as Abdul Majeed, 60, and his son Abdul Jabbar, 30.
Police apprehended the motorcycle and noted that the trailer driver escaped the scene.
The deceased, both masons by profession, were on their way to work. Relatives said Abdul Jabbar was scheduled to marry the following month.
In a separate incident, a man was killed in Azam Basti early Monday. The Mehmoodabad police reported that Aman Durrani, 38, died after being stabbed during a personal dispute in Street 5. His body was transported to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
