Israel Police announced earlier this month that an indictment has been filed against two East Jerusalem residents suspected of involvement in a targeted arson attack.
According to police investigators, the primary suspect and the victim had previously been engaged. After the woman decided to call off the wedding, she allegedly began receiving threats from her ex-fiancé, who is accused of hiring an arsonist to set fire to her vehicle.
The two suspects, aged 23 and 26, were arrested and questioned by authorities, with their detention extended until October 4.
In a separate incident, a 57-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy were seriously injured in a vehicle explosion in Jerusalem’s Armon Hanatziv neighborhood. Police are investigating the blast as a suspected attempted murder with a criminal background.
Israeli media have identified the target of the explosion as Itzik Bar-Mucha, a prominent and convicted figure in Jerusalem’s criminal underworld.
According to the Israeli news outlet Walla, Bar-Mucha has been linked to several high-profile criminal cases over the years and was considered a highly significant, senior figure in the city’s underworld.
Israel Police reported receiving a call regarding a vehicle explosion on Meir Feinstein Street at approximately 8:15 a.m. Medical teams arrived at the scene and evacuated the two victims, who were in serious condition.
Investigators from the Oz Police Station and Jerusalem District bomb disposal units arrived shortly after the incident to begin collecting evidence.
Police stated that evidence collected at the scene strongly suggested the explosion was caused by an explosive device.
