Sri Lanka Cricket has officially announced that the Indian national men’s team will tour Sri Lanka in August 2026 for a two‑match Test series.
The bilateral series forms a key part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025‑2027 cycle, promising high‑stakes red‑ball cricket between two traditional rivals.
The first Test is scheduled at the iconic Galle International Cricket Stadium (GICS), known for its spin‑friendly pitches and scenic backdrop. The second Test will take place at the Singhalese Sports Club (SSC) in Colombo, offering a contrasting surface that could test both teams’ adaptability.
This tour comes at a crucial time for both sides. India, a dominant force in Test cricket, will look to strengthen their WTC standings with clinical performances, while Sri Lanka aims to leverage home conditions and passionate crowds to challenge the visitors. Historically, Galle has favoured the hosts, often producing turning tracks that suit Sri Lankan spinners.
Sri Lanka currently sit sixth in the WTC table with a PCT of 44.440, while India occupy fifth place with 48.150. For India to finish among the top two, Shubman Gill and his teammates must deliver a favourable result in the series.
