Tyson Fury has weighed in on the debate, selecting his pick between the prime eras of Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali. Both are widely regarded as among the greatest heavyweights in boxing history, having dominated distinct eras.
Mike Tyson captured the world heavyweight championship at age 20, becoming the youngest undisputed champion in the division’s history. His ferocious power earned him the nickname ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’, with 44 of his 50 victories arriving by knockout, including wins over Larry Holmes, Michael Spinks and Frank Bruno.
Ali, dubbed ‘The Greatest’, three-time world heavyweight champion, possessed a skillset that defined an era. His legacy includes iconic victories over George Foreman in the ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ and Joe Frazier in the ‘Thrilla in Manila’, retiring with 56 wins from 61 professional contests.
Considering all factors, Fury predicted Ali would triumph in a fantasy matchup. Fury himself aims to join Ali as a three-time heavyweight champion, facing Anthony Joshua in Cardiff this December with the WBA title on the line.
